I took the kayak back out to Ballinger this evening, after buying some flies (thanks for the tip godfather!). Tied a simple brown and tan fly on, added a power egg to it, trolled, and hooked into a small rainbow trout after about five minutes. Stayed out there for a while, but the wind started to pick up and I don't think they were on the surface chasing bugs. I should have switched over to something to drag deeper and see if they were down closer to the bottom. Saw a group of college-aged kids pulling up some smalls from the dock, not sure what they were using. Also, ran into a guy that said his group was chasing bass. Never heard of bass in Ballinger, but definitely interesting if there are. I'll stick to trout though!

I grew up fishing Ballinger. I remember when i was a kid seeing a huge bass jump and swallow a duckling out by the island. There are definitly Bass in the lake!
