I arrived at Beverly at 6:45, raft in the water by 7:00pm with high hopes of an evening bite, and wasn't disappointed. About 10 minutes after I launched, I missed a surface strike on a popper, 3 cast later I hooked up, and landed my first lmb of 12" or so, released, another 15 minutes later I caught and released a smaller 9" bass, then there was a bit of a lull, at about 8:00 pm I get a slamming take down and a nice fight ensued shortly after. This fish peeled out line and fought very well on my 4# light trout set up. Got it in after a couple minutes, about a 15" lmb I think 1 1/2lb or so, not a bad fish. My first outing this year specifically targeting bass, went 3/4 in 1 hour 1/2 on a 3" surface popper, frog pattern, fish were very tight to structure, mostly tossed it as close to shore along the island as I could. I headed in after I caught the 3rd bass.
