Didn't catch any but had a few hits on topwater lures. They're in there but its hard to fish due to all the weeds that's the reason for only fishing with topwater . Does anyone that has fishd this lake have any tips? Could have given it a three just for seeing fish trying to hit on the surface and using a baitcaster for the first time. I will figure out this lake and my new baitcaster!

I have not fished that lake but you might want to try some of the weedless top water lures e.g frogs, in a situation like that. Just a thought.

you could also try pitching a heavy jig... or even do a punch rig to get down through the weeds....

When you say heavy jig do u mean a skirted jig that looks like half of a spinnerbait? If so do those require a trailer ? Sorry for the questions just trying to figure out this bass fishing.

Ryanmfknd- Yeah a skirted jig is what you described. I have fished this lake successfully with buzz baits, hollow body frogs, square bill cranksbaits and soft plastics. The Berkley Havoc pit boss in texas craw color with some craw scent being my go-to pretty much anywhere I fish for bass. You can see my post from May 25th of last year and the bass i caught on the pit boss at Bass lake. Texas rig it and cast it within a few feet of shoreline and work it out to about ten feet of water. If you see bass chasing your bait to the boat try the crankbaits. They might react to them better. I work on the outside edge of the lily pads ... It's pretty exciting when the hit.

Good luck! PM me if you need more info.
