You might think of Easton Ponds some one of those places that you always wonder about visiting but probably never will. Well I did! For those not familiar, these are the ponds you see off of the main Easton exit on I-90. I five other fisherman out there, all sinking bait. I came out with my float tube and fly rod going about fishing this lake a little differently. I did not see any of the baiters land anything and they came and went quickly. I spend five hours out there and landed 3 fish. Unfortunately, none were trout. They all were Whitefish; two fry and one adult.

Going about flyfishing this lake is interesting. There are definitely some big fish in here, but targeting them is the difficult part. Saw a callibaetis hatch, but hardly any top water. I guess they were taking nymphs. One pattern that may be good in the evening are leech patterns. When I came out of the lake, little 1/2" cream colored leeches were all over my fins. Also, fish fry were abundant. Also, as a man-made creation, the shores are steep-especially the wall that divides two of the ponds. This is where I found my adult Whitefish.
