I and friend Scott fished Hayden for the first time (mine). We got a late start because Scott had to get a fishing license at WM. First step was to find somebody who knew how to sell it to him.

Started fishing for the kokanee about 8:30 with calm weather and overcast skies. Finally got one to bite on a UV red skeleton sling blade with a pink hooche. Turned around and got the second one and Scott got one. Went back through and caught a triple..... they got very friendly, tangled the lines and escaped, rats! By 10:00 the bite stopped never to return. Tried different depth, all manner of tackel to no avail.

The fish are very fat and about 15"; really nice red meat too. A couple of them are on the pellet grill as I am writing this report...I think the word is YUM!

Tight lines everybody - Alan

Nice report Alan! A triple is always fun, even if the fish figure out how to release themselves. Your package will be there this week, wish I would have sent it sooner to try our luck with some Pink Kekedas out on Hayden. Best of luck to you on your trip next week. -Dave

Nice Alan. Wasn't this free fishing weekend in Idaho as well? I would be curious about the Flies is he down sizing them for the Kokes?

I would have guessed that you would have rated it a 5 since you were fishing!!!!

Wow a triple! Even if they didn't all make it in the boat, that is impressive! Great job and glad you made it out there!

Cozmo4196 I was using three colors leaded line ending up at about 15' deep. The down rigger was set at 30'. Had the best action on the leaded outfits. I imagine the fish are deeper now and first lite fishing willbe the order of the day to beat the water craft folkes.

Mike - We are night fishing Loon for the kokes now and it's a hoot! Come on over and I would be happy to take you out. Hayden should be great this fall.
