I wasn't going to post on my last trip to Fish Lake, but realized that not many people post about it regularly. So I'll drop a line or two about my favorite lake to visit. My family recently rented one of the cabins on Fish Lake for a weekend to connect with each other...I made sure to bring plenty of wine!

Friday really wasn't a fishing day, as three of us put in for about 20 minutes before it got dark. Nothing caught, but some bug bites.

Got on the dock (private dock) the next morning around 5:00 am. Watched the hills turn purple, then pink, then the sun climbed high up in the sky with not a cloud in sight. I didn't have any luck, but my little brother caught four. He went in for breakfast and I sat there encouraging the fish to bite now that he was gone. They didn't listen. I decided around noon that it was time to break out the big guns and retrieved my trusted fishing companion...a bottle of wine. About two glasses in and I had a nice 1.5lb trout. Nothing after that. The rest of the family rented a pontoon and caught 16 fish between 974 fishers on the boat (just kidding). They decided to not troll, but to post up in a spot with some powerbait and hit them pretty hard.

Sunday was another bust for me, but not for everyone else. They pulled another 9 fish while I laid goose eggs for the day. I was using the same setup and bait, but they just didn't like what I was giving them. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't.

Hard to complain about such a beautiful place. The sun was out, the water was like glass, and the wind started blowing around noon each day. Add temperatures in the high 70's and some white wine and it's a place that I could never leave. Tight lines!
