Well this was a day of fishing that was unexpected. I happened to be in Bellingham for graduation at WWU for the weekend. As I was driving back down I decided to stop at Samish last minute. I bought a manual downrigger for the toon so it was a good test run. I set the wire at 25 ft to start off with and right off the bat I land the first koke. Not to long after I hook another but it got off as the release clip isn't the best. This action continued with most coming loose. After about an hour the bites died so I set the wire to 35ft and bam the action started up again. Ended up landing 3 of about 10. I am definately getting a new release clip. Fished for 2 hours total. The setup was a dick nite clown dodger with a red wedding ring tipped with corn. 4 star day with all the action that was going on! Glad I decided to stop here. Tight Lines

Take a look at the Chamberlain Release. I really like them. The second choice for me is the small Scotty release. Nice fish; thanks for sharing.

PS I run the Chamberlain on the wire and then a Scotty snubber above the ball.

Sweet, thanks for info. I'll look into those this week. The cannon release clips are not getting the job done at all.
