Fished the punch bowl at banks yesterday. Fishing was good. The largemouth are really spooked so good thing i was fishing from my raft so I didn't make a lot of noise running up on them. Fish are way up in the reeds so if your not using a heavy line, good luck! Caught lots on my top water snake by Bog Baits. And used a bright color stick bait in 5 inch and 7 inch most of the time. Hooked all sizes of largies but nothing over 5 pounds. Saw a couple other people out there in there fancy bass boats fishing so fast and catching nothing, then blasting out of the punch bowl. I think they have more money than brains. Water level is inches away from full pool. Weather was hot n sunny with a little breeze.

AMX, you are dead wrong. Big fish get big because they burn less calories than they consume. That doesnt mean they check prey out before eating at all. It just means they will position themselves on the best spots waiting for prey to come to them. A good cast, with a fast retrieve to a quality big fish spot gets bit. Adults eat at the table, and kids snack in the pantry. If your catching little ones with fast baits you are in the pantry.

Btw, the best big fish bait of all time is arguably a flipping jig. Thats a fast moving bait that gets reaction bites. If it gets looked at too much, it aint getting bit. 9 times out of 10 they get bit on the fall.... Ie reaction strike. Not sure what that tells you, but i know what it tells me...

Misinformation and a lack of comprehension is rampant in bass fishing unfortunately. As soon as someone says "im a local, i fish here 2-3 times a week" i laugh. Many guys from seattle, spokane, or tri cities could show you how to fish your lake. Or any other...

not even close to being wrong. one reason big fish get big is because they learn to check out their prey before eating it, most of the time. that is one reason big fish like, and get caught on, slow moving jigs. also flippin can be a reaction bite or fished VERY slow, try doing both on the same cast. laid back fish won't eat the fast flip, but will/can grab the slow presentation, therefore THAT isn't a reaction strike. by the way rap, how long have you been fishing for bass? just wondering. Yes people new to a lake can do great, as 'old timers' to the lake get stuck in a certain techniques/patterns and spots, which anybody that's bass fished for more than say 10 years, can have that happen, nothing new there.
