Fished from 9 this morn to approx. 1/2 past 12. Spent the first couple hrs/ way too much time around the lilies with only 1 crappie and some perch to show for, then I decided to give a pile of weeds (sticking out of the water) a try.
Good thing I did, this was the honey hole that I've been looking for, it was not-stop actions from there just working around the weed edges.
Released lots of under sizes (below 9"), lost some good ones, should've limited out but content to go home with 6 that are approx. 9 -11" (with some perch to go along for dinner).
The overcast with light drizzle + some ripples with some consistent wind really helped with the crappie activity.
I fished near the boat launch towards the north side with bobber and 1/32 oz jig w/ 2 ft leader (pumpkin tube tipped w/ cream colored crappie nibble).

Wow.. nice crappie. Such an elusive fish in the PNW. Ya, it's out there, but not many people can attest to catching them.

Thanks QuadFather! Yeah, I know what you're talking about! I've caught Cohos/ Sockeyes/ Kings/ Steelheads/ & many others that folks report - but the Crappies, it's something about the challenge/ the patience/ the best tasting fish ("in my opinion")/ the changes in their patterns/ it seems like they're all over the place in our local lakes and easy to catch but???

What part of the lake did you focus your attention on? Those warmouths are nice. I don't catch alot of those in there

Yakattack: Near the dock to your left (north) of the launch. Because of the windy conditions, I didn't feel like going across the lake so I decided to focus close to the launch. ***If you plan on using "Bobber & Jig", remember to anchor out a distance away to avoid spooking the fish, work all angles with some "Quality Cast" (i.e. avoid snags on lilies/ weeds, submerge structures, branches, etc.). With the kind of weather conditions we're getting, cast out close to lilies or pile of weeds and let the "Wind + Bobber" do the work for you (i.e. twitch once in a while, reel in very slow then stop and twitch, etc.).

When I don't want the hassle of hauling my big boat around (launching/ pick up), I use my inflatable kayak.
We both know that it's not like being on a boat, but it's sturdy, durable, enough space to pack plenty of gears, get's you where you need to go - and the big advantage is that it's light and packs up nicely into a small vehicle.
I just checked Craigslist, a person from Des Moines has got a nice one up for $50! Just thought that I throw it out there.
