Woke up this morning at 6AM to rain. Check the radar and looked like it will rain for a quite a while, so I went back to sleep, since I didn't want to get my boat wet. Tee Hee

At 1:30PM, apparently, it's been dry for a while now. Checked radar and it looked like it will be dry for the rest of the day. 2PM, decided to head out with the Wife.

Got on the water right at 3PM and it looks pretty breezy/choppy out there.... Didn't look like there was any place to hide from the wind at all. Thought about just turning back around and heading home. Bah, I'm already on the water, might as well get a few casts in. I made my way to a point. Anchor up with my Spotlock and trying to decide on what to die on.

I decide to go with my trusty swimbait that has been on fire the past week or so. Dropshot with a heavier weight, and a heavier tube. Wife decided not to fish, due the wind.

Start with the swimbait. First cast, next to the point on wind blown side. Wind put a big bow on my line, so I couldn't really feel my lure at all. Then I felt a tug when I got it straight and fish on! Cant tell what it is, the water is all chopped up. I get it up to the surface and saw a quick flash. At first, I thought it was a big trout, then the 2nd surface showed otherwise. A big squawfish! LOL, about 17-18".

Reposition the boat and make another cast just past where I originally casted. I think I felt a bite, but couldn't tell with the wind. So I do a follow up cast and bam fish on! It's a dink SMB, but the right species at least.

Do the exact same cast and fish on! Another dink SMB. Do it again and lol another fish on, being a dink. All were ~9-12". The wife was like, are you serious??!!? So first 5 casts, 4 fish.

I spent another 10 mins fan casting around the point with no more bites.

I decided to start going left and fishing the shoreline/docks. 1st dock I come to, I know I've caught a nice SMB last year on a football head. But I ran my swimbait past it multiple times without a bite. There was a boat tied off on a buoy about 20' to the side of it, so I ran my swimbait past that and feels like a fish... yes, fish on! It's pulling some drag, so I know it's at least a decent fish. I get it to boat side and see it's a nice SMB, oh and look at that, a 2nd one almost same size following it. The wife netted the fish for me. Not sure what happened, but the top of it's fin is raw looking. Measured out at about 16.5". Didn't bother weighing it. It was long and skinny. Anyways, so about 10 mins of fishing, I've landed 5 fish, woot.

I worked along that path for about 10 mins and decide to turn around and go to the other side of the point along the shore, going with the wind.

It was really hard for me to let the lure sink, due to the wind. But I was still catching fish. I caught couple more 12-14" SMB and a couple of nice perch.

Continue along while running my swimbait along the front of a dock and BAM, fish on! 15" SMB. Bottom of it's fin is raw assuming from spawning.

I get close to some people on a dock. The gentleman asks me how I'm doing and catching anything, tell me he's out of town and what's in the waters. I tell him fishing has been hot so far and there's a nice variety in the lake. Right after I get done with that, I make a cast near by their dock, and it's really shallow. Had some reeds along the shore and right when it hit the water, fish on! I thought it was weeds at first, but it started fighting. Just a little guy, maybe 10". Wind blew me way off, so I reposition again and make another cast next to those reeds and bam! another fish on! ~12".

Didn't get anymore in that area.

Farther down, going with the wind, I get another 15" SMB on the swimbait. A couple of dinks afterwards.

I set the hook on something and break off on the hookset. Knew I should have retied, bummer. Oh btw, I was using the exact same swimbait with all those fish. It's pretty durable.

I get another decent ~14" chunkster. Choked on my swimbait. I couldn't see my lure at all while at boat side, it was deep in there. But as soon as I scooped it into the net and rest it down, it coughs up the lure and it's gushing blood all over my deck. Released it quickly after the pic. :( Hopefully he/she makes it.

Several more dinks into the mix. I notice the water temps has dropped 2 degrees from when I first started. Hmmm, so I decide to go to the other side of the lake. Water temp was up 1 degrees or so from where I just left. Worked the shoreline for about 20 mins with landing a dink ~8" SMB. It was getting pretty cold out on the water due to the wind. Also looked like rain is on it's way. Headed in at 5:45PM.

Pretty productive 2.5hrs of fishing.

Hard to tough it out in the wind sometimes, but it paid off! Great day...

I'm getting the quantities now. I just wish I can get the quality now. I know there's big ones in there. Bah, beggars cant be choosers I guess.
