We started fishing about 10am. Sunny skies with a few clouds. The lily pads are in bloom now - these are pink instead of the normal white.
There were a few other boats out there fishing too. I caught my limit of 5 within an hour using 2 poles (I have the endorsement). We were trolling woolley buggers & Pistol Pete's tipped with worms in about 35-50ft. We had the most success trolling across the deep end of the lake (south end). My dad took a little longer to get his 5-fish limit (also has the 2-pole endorsement) and my son was only able to catch 2 fish. He was at a disadvantage because he only can use one pole.
We saw a lot of tiny/minnow-sized trout jumping while we were there, as well as some of the bigger trout. They seemed to be hanging out more in the 20ft & below areas of the lake now. Saw quite a few on the depth finder, which is encouraging.
The fish were all in the 12-14" range. When cleaned, they were nice & dark pink inside except for a couple that were still a little pinkish. Some did have the blight/parasites on them, but they hosed off nicely. They are still edible per a phone call we made last summer to WDFW. The blight doesn't effect the meat inside. Just don't eat the skin.
They are in my smoker right now and just about done....looking forward to eating them!
