Really hot day at the lake today. There is no launch on this lake so my brother and I had to haul the canoe and all out gear from the parking lot to the lake. There were no clouds, just the sun beaming down.
We got on the water at about noon and fished till 4pm. The water is warm, and I think the bass are post spawn. I caught one on my third cast using a tan jig with a crawfish topper flipped into the lilly pads by the beaver dam. He was a good size. I'd say around 3lbs. I only had two jigs and I lost them both shorty after this. I should have gotten more jigs. Get nice weedless ones because there are lily pads all over the lake.
Caught the next one on a whacky rigged senco, pitched deep under a dock. He was maybe a pound. Not as big. He fought well though and it was fun.
With it being so hot my brother and I decided to call it a day. Also, I didn't bring much gear and we were running really low.
Hauling that canoe and all our stuff uphill to the lot was horrible.

Canoe Guy, I have fished that lake many times from my canoe. I always launched my canoe at the south end of the lake. There is room for one vehicle for road side parking and is a short carry to the lake. My best Fivemile bass also hit a black jig. She was 19 1/2 inches, 4 pounds and 8 ounces. That was on September 26, 1982.

Thank you for the tip. I will go back and launch from there, I really enjoyed fishing this lake. Very little pressure and lots of habitat.
