We finally had a break through after three days of fishing. All of a sudden the Kokes started hitting on worms, eggs, and corn. Unfortunately so did a medium sized Northern Pike. We ended up with three Kokes, but lost at least that many. Keep trolling along the shore from the campground to the cabin with the brown roof past the snag. They are about 110-200' down.

A pike? Are you 100% sure? I never even suspected that there were pike there.

Oh you probably meant northern pike minnow considering it what it was caught on.

Someone apparently illegally planted or introduced them into the lake a few years ago. They are an invasive species and feed on the trout and Kokanee fry that WDFW plants. In some areas WDFW has a bounty on them. I hope it doesn't get to the point that WDFW has to rehabilitate the lake, but it may come to that some day.

Ya that lake has quite a few of those pesky pike minnows.usually nail at least a couple.I like the upper end of the lake for kokanee fishing.I go almost all the way to the end.Usually nail one or 2 decent size cutthroat as well. They also have mackinaw in there as well

The confusion is caused because the state changed the name of squawfish to "pikeminnow" to make them sound more aggressive. They are a native species and have always been in the lake. Thanks for the report.
