After a tough day of trout fishing, returned to the Potholes with my in laws looking for some walleyes. We hit the water at six and tried the mid lake humps for a bit and then switched to a spot near the crab creek channel. There were four other boats in the area who were kind enough to tell us they had walleye when we asked for a report. One boat had two 19" fish and he later caught a 25" fish. The other boat had a 24" walleye.

Ten minutes into trolling with slow death rigs my mother-in-law Sue nearly has the rod yanked out of her hand. She sets the hook and that G Loomis has a good bend to it. Then the fish comes to the surface and rolls. Walleye do not that, so we are wondering what she has tied into. A minute later it hits the surface again and all we see is a giant mouth. Now she is excited because she has never caught a big lmb. We get it netted and in the livewell and guess it at five pounds. The scale later proves us wrong and it weighs in at four. A personal best for her. She also caught a nice 19" walleye as did I. My father-in-law Larry also caught a 24" walleye. We also caught several nice perch and a couple of small bullheads. By 10 the walleyes shut down. We caught and released a bunch of perch after 10, but by 12:30 the temp was 91 degrees. We called it a day and went home and filleted the fish.
