With lots of action fishing for perch recently, Pete and I headed for Lake Washington again. Arrived at about 6:30 AM and began casting floats with worms under, about 6'. Weather was cloudy, with steady wind from the southwest... air temp at 61 degrees at outset, water temp at 72 degrees off the pier at 8'. Not much out of the ordinary this day, just non-stop action from the outset. Had to adjust the float to hook depth several times, but managed to catch a total of 36 perch (most in the 7" to 9" range, with a couple of "piggies" at 11")... also caught several Northern Pikeminnows which we threw to the resident Great Blue Heron Pete has affectionately dubbed, "George". Also caught several nice Bluegill and lots of small LMB, all C&R. Wind grew stronger as the morning progressed, making float fishing more of a challenge, but even with a few lulls and needing to adjust the line length under the float, we consistently caught perch all morning. Left the lake about 1:00. PTL!

Huh. That's where I was tonight. Only had 2 perch hit in 90 minutes or so. Other stuff biting, but no perch.. Apparently perch are not so cooperative at sunset!

whorde... perch are schooling fish and you have to locate them "depth-wise". If you aren't getting bit inside of five to ten minutes, slide your float up or down a couple of feet until you get bites. My guess is at sunset the perch probably rise to within a foot or two of the surface... although they just as likely could go deeper! Got to keep adjusting to find them. Keep at it, they are such good eating. Good luck! PTL!
