Made my fall journey over to Loon Lake. Definitely to one of my favorite places last week to rest, relax and get some smokin kokanee. This post covers four days.

Left Seattle on Wednesday morning three hours later than planned. As we got to the top of the pass & pulled over to get some milk to go with our fair scones, I looked back and saw that one of the pieces of windshield glass had just shattered. Not sure what caused it. Made a quick decision to call a glass shop in Ellensburg and get it fixed. The guys at Johnsons Glass & Upholstery put in a piece of Lexan cleaned up all the glass in the boat and only charged me $50. Back on the road in a little over an hour. Can’t say enough good things about them!

9/11 left the dock @ 7:00am caught the first one in less than 5 minutes. Limited in less than two hours. Trolled a Pink/Silver wedding ring tipped with corn behind a DN dodger @ 30’. Most fish in 13” range and bright. The largest was a buck that went 16” and starting to show some color.

9/12, headed to the dock @ 6:30 to find ice on the dock & frost on the windows. Damn was it cold! Thankfully no wind. Had to work a little harder to get 7 fish in 3 hours. Same size as before. Trolled a RM Super Squid in UV Pink with corn behind a DN dodger @ 33’. Went back out in the afternoon and picked up my last 3. Took my fiancé out she caught 3 as well. Ran up to Jump Off Joe to see friends and went Perch jerking in the evening. Added 9 nice 8”-10” Perch to the community creel for Sunday morning breakfast.

9/13, started out @ 7:30 using the same rig as the day before. Caught 3 in a little over an hour. Things slowed down, so switched over to the Super Squid. Picked up 4 more over the next couple hours. Wind came up and blew me off the water.

9/14, on the water @ 7:00. Trolled the wedding ring set-up again and picked up 5 in less than 2 hours. Pulled the boat out and headed back to Jump of Joe for a breakfast of fried Perch with friends.

Headed for home around noon. Thankfully an uneventful drive home!

Thanks. 2011 Smokercraft Pro Tracer 162 with 40hp & 6hp Yam's. It has a couple of Scotty 1101 DR's. Full canvas. Sweet little boat for pulling over to E. WA or using locally.
