Started at the Mount Baker area of I-90 just a few miles before the bridge, where there was a public pier(T-shaped) and freshwater beach. Tried using a river rig(main line straight to a bank sinker and using 2 dropper loops to hooks) for catfish, using Powerbait's catfish 'liver' formula. Fished for 2 hours and got impatient, so I started targeting bass. Used a Rapala countdown lure(CD-5) and cast in a semi-circle pattern. I saw one baby bass come close to taking the hook but jetted off at the last moment. Kids were out in the afternoon and I noticed a few of them trying live worms, none of them hooked any fish.
Decided to try along the shores following the I-90 trail back towards Seward Park. Fished using the same Rapala CD and Original Foat(Size 8) with no luck. The shores are just too shallow and vegetation kept getting in the way. Overall it was a nice and sunny afternoon clear skies but nothing caught.
Quite a lot of people were out in the afternoon and I did see a few people also fishing along the shores.
