10/5/2014 12:15:00 AMI've wondered that same thing salmonberry, and I'm not sure what the answer is. In some ways I would sort of view it like this. If you were out on the salt and caught two coho, then you could head back over to say, the Snohomish and pick up one more, or to the Skagit and pick up two more. You would be over the saltwater limit, but the fish you actually caught from the salt wouldn't be. You also wouldn't be over the Snohomish (with one more) or Skagit (with two more) limits either counting all fish. My question would then be though, could you catch two in the salt and then go and catch four out of the Skagit?
Or is it one limit per day, period? As in, one limit from one location.
But then what if you start in the salt and catch one, and then go over to the Snohomish and catch one. You haven't filled either limit at either spot, but you have technically caught your limit of two by saltwater standards. Does it make a difference where you start or stop?
I don't think anyone would say that you can just go to every river and catch a limit for that spot and be ok, but I think the regs do say you can't have more than two daily limits in fresh form in your possession. That sort of indicates that maybe you can catch two separate limits?
I'm playing devil's advocate to try to get people to respond who may know more.

10/5/2014 8:56:00 AMHere is my humble interpretation. I really enjoy your reports by the way. The two bag limit in possession would apply if you were camping. One person, 10 trout in the cooler, good to go....One person, 20 trout, no camping gear....Probably in trouble.
I also feel that if you utilize the upper end of the bag limit in the area that you would be fine if you combined it. One coho in the river, then 3 more out of lake WA where it appears to be 4 for the day then you are well within the rules. I see it the same way as the two steelhead out of the river and then three more say rainbow trout makes 5 combined trout unless it specifically says otherwise. I feel it is a combined limit for the day that was in sequence not to bust your limit for either spot. Now limit in the river and limit in the salt separately I feel would be breaking the rules.

10/5/2014 9:14:00 AMOh yea and to add to that, as long as I am not fishing in the location that I have reached that location limit for then I am also good.. I can pass through closed waters with my catch as long as I am not fishing the closed waters or waters that my limit has been reached. Case in point would be launching at the mouth of the Cedar river at the south end of lake Wa, fishing Lk WA, and then going back through the Cedar to land my boat. I am aware that the Cedar isn't completely closed all year but I think you get my point.

10/5/2014 11:26:00 AMThanks of the heads up Salmonbarry. I was out there on Lake WA same area last Sunday and had the same results. Marked zero bait, limited fish but it was still a nice day out on the water. Going to head out there again tomorrow also so I will post a report. Might make the run up north for some salmon if the south end is a bomb! And some Ivars is a must!
