With the bite off at greenlake, and having to run an errand out in Snoqualmie, it was the perfect day to check out Rattlesnake and bag some of the fish there for the smoker.

I was pretty shocked how low the lake was compared to summer having hiked the ridge several times. It really seems small when it's down so far. I pulled up, took off my trebles and pinched the barbs down on my now single hook gear.

Spinners: caught 4 or so on spinners, lost at least as many.
Spoon: caught 2 on a brass/pink 1/4oz spoon I tried just for the heck of it,

Why the 2 rating? Shore fishing here is a challenge. 2 of the fish hooked tangled my gear into stumps. I lost another 4 lures to bottom snags. So each of my six bagged fish cost me a lure.

Selective gear is a pain! I lost at least what I bagged at the edge of the lake.

lastly, I'm not so sure how healthy these fish are - I think there are too many in this small of a lake. All of the fish I caught had tattered fins, is this from fighting? Fish jumping all over the place, eagles and osprey, cool little ducks. It really is a pretty place, people on boats seemed to be having a blast.

What part of the lake did you fish? It sounds to me like I need to bust out my snorkel and make a trip :)

That sounds very interesting. Guess you need a boat to take advantage of em. So jig and bobber not allowed? just wondering so not familiar with selective gear except single barb less hook. I know that they clip the fin on these. tattered thought that is interesting. Thanks for the post. I caught stockers out of lake Tye no tattered fins but def not the healthiest looking fish they also tasted gross.

They are putting a bunch of Chambers Creek stock steelhead into this lake this year that were not put into Puget Sound rivers due to the lawsuit by the Native Fish conservancy, FYI. That would be a part of the "skinny" look to the fish and the seeming over abundance. I hope plenty take advantage of these extra fishing opportunities and at least you were "catching" rather than standing on the shore looking like an idiot!
