I was the asian guy with the 'shimano' cap and red jacket, I wasn't going for trout, I was trying to catch carp with corn. It was particularly difficult on that day with the wind blowing, I've seen carp hanging around the dock a few times before but the weather didn't make it easy. Stansjoy and a few other anglers were just around the corner beyond Evan's Pool, they seemed to be pretty productive. I noticed a few others that were fishing in more shallow areas. hope you have better luck next time.
