We went out for our first ever trip to Potholes. It was awful! Nobody should ever go there again.....
Ok, so it was amazing. We ended up keeping almost 34 pounds of walleye. Before fileting. We caught a ton of dinks, so many perch we lost count, one catfish and one crappie. We kept two 4lb 10oz, one 3lb 10 oz, two 2lb 10 oz, two 2lb 6oz, one 2lb 1oz, and several over a pound and a half.
We tossed blade baits at first. Pretty productive. Then switched to bottom bouncers for most of the day. The started off liking silver with slow death hooks, then green, then copper, then blue, then silver, then green. Just plain nailed them. Usually at about .9 to 1.2 mph.
Wind was slow but steady. Water around 55.5. Mostly cloudy with some afternoon sunshine. We went everywhere. Location didn't matter. We got them all over. Best action was either slow jigging with bottom bouncers or when I would ignore them completely and only notice when they got hit.
This lake is stellar. People all around were catching. Everyone was courteous. The guy running the Mardon store was great. We did have the give a yell to a father and young son that had a bite and hadn't noticed as they trolled past.
This trip had Dave, Jeff and Steven all smiling all day. What a great fishery.
