I took my son to Beaver Lake on Saturday for his 13th birthday. The park was extremely crowded as was the boat launch (and we were there before sunrise). Regardless of the crowds, my son and I had a great time. He caught two 17.5" rainbows (both just under 3 lbs. each) and I caught one 18" (at 3.5 lbs.) and one 16.3" (at 2.5 lbs.). This was all within 2 hours.

The first hour, we didn't have so much as a bite. We were using Dick Nite Dodgers on the mainline with Mac's Wedding Rings on a 4' leader. Then, I switched to basic #4 hooks with Power Bait. As soon as we did, my son landed his two fish on two casts. As I was taking the hook out of his second one, I had my first fish on. It was not even 10 minutes later until I caught my second one and we were done for the day.

It was crazy crowded. (More than I've ever seen.) However, most people were nice. We had a great time and my son had a great birthday.
