I hit Greenlake this morning on the NE point. I limited using multiple things - powerbait (different colors), Dick Nite, Blue Fox, Rooster Tail.

One fish was dark and the meat pale. Yesterday I caught one that looked like it just spawned, w/milt still coming out of it. Anybody know what's with that? The biggest one I caught was 16" and bright with nice orange flesh...much more like a steelhead.

Great day!

From what I was told, most of the planted fish were actually steelheads. How long did you fish to get your limit?

They are steelhead smolts, but still technically rainbow trout as they haven't been to sea - which brings me to my big question... why would a rainbow smolt be spawning? It was definitely milt that was coming out of the salmon I got yesterday, and the one today was dark...like it had just spawned or was getting ready to.

The stocked steelhead are addipose clipped like the one in your picture while other rainbows won't be. It was probably a resident rainbow as the stocked steelhead are not sexually mature.
