Thanks to some nice tips from SeattlePat and others, I decided to go Green again today. There was a narrow window before the Seahawks game, but certainly worth a try. Everyone is talking about the Kastmaster as being the item. To my surprise I had two of them in my tackle box from possibly 20+ years ago. It is always good to dig out the old relics and put them in the mouth of a fish or two or maybe ten...
Last time out I laid a goose egg with my fishing performance. Things could only improve.
7:00am: First cast with the Kastmaster, hey what's that? Yep, fish on! I reeled in a nice 12" rainbow/steelhead. Fifth cast, and what do you know. Another 12" trout. A lively one that jumped a few times. Then things went quiet. I watched my neighbor to the left catch a trout about every 2-5 minutes. The guys to my right were occasionally netting fish too. Nothing is more annoying than watching everyone else catch fish when I am not.
So I changed out my lure. One similar to a rooster tail, but no bites, another real oldie from my box - a red devil, but no bites. I told the guy to my left: "You're killing me!" He was using power bait eggs, orange and white.
I switched to my second setup with power bait eggs under a bobber and slip sinker, set near the bottom, then 3' from the top. Nothing. Ok, then I copied exactly what the dude next to me was using, including his orange power eggs. Still nothing, while I watched him reeling in fish. Time ran out, but I am still learning and had some success.
The trout tasted very nice for dinner. I'll be back.

I was the guy on your left. You don't need to get too fancy on Green Lake. Slip sinker, 2 ft leader, and PE in any color as long as it's orange, toss and wait.

Ditto to the above!! I use 3'-4' leaders, but powerbait/powereggs work, colors are insignificant,...glad you got out, for your short window, you did well!!

Hey Raduban and/or NE 1 FISSION, Do you attempt to reel off the slack, or allow the slack? I was using 2-3' leader, and wonder if longer leader might create more lost fish. Raduban, I noticed you were using treble hooks, approx. #10-12 hooks. Rarely did you loose a fish.

A bit of slack is fine so that the fish can take the lure without feeling tension. Small treble hook works for me. I put two power eggs and leave the third point exposed - it helps with the hookup, particularly if you're planning to keep the fish.

Thanks Raduban! I hope to get back out soon. Maybe Wednesday morning.
