I decided to try out Green lake for the first time. I went a little after 10am. They stocked that lake with a lot of trout so I knew it would be likely to be good catching. I could see there was already quite a crowd but still space for me.
I was not disappointing and I very quickly limited out...well still took about 2 hours but such it is when you have a little one with you, much harder to fish. Also tons of people walking the trail and more than one dirty look from them for bringing my little one. It is possible to fish and baby wear though. :D I just wished I had used lures more so I could be more selective with what I kept. Those fish were nibblers and took some time to actually hook em. I used bobber and fake worm and got some that way. I used a spinner and got some that way. Some of the fish fell off before I got them up. I used real worms and bobber near the end so I could catch faster. I was quite content to keep fish tell a passerby.. in a very judging voice asked how I had not noticed the toxic algae sign. I had not of course. I did not keep any fish from the lake because of that but I did give some away and those I did take home were cleaned very carefully and giving away. Just not worth risking for me. Over all it was fun to see the lake. The crowd was kind of wild and I do not know much about fishing so close to many.
I want to come back and fish with lures and jigs only and mostly barb-less and mostly release em. Also I will not be bringing my little one. Great place to fish though and if you are willing to look for a spot less populous good for first timers.

Heatherlyfish... Don't be intimidated by ANYONE you think is demeaning you for bringing your child fishing with you. They are simply jealous that they did not have a parent to love them so much. NO GREATER time spent than with your "little one", no matter what you are doing. Also, the toxic algae does not in anyway affect the fish... are perfectly fine to eat. Bless you for your fine fishing skills and most of all for being a mother who loves her child. PTL!

Thanks Stansjoy. True that gets us out and I know there is learning going on. Hopefully next time I can find a spot not on the edge of the fishing line. I got way to much attention in that spot and people distracting me. Either way I will just ignore em next time. One of the things I really like about lake Tye..path around the lake it a bit far from the water. Pretty sure my little one will love fishing. One time I took him and I let him help me reel. He squealed with delight. I will keep on learning and improving my skill have yet to learn the way of the river or the tricks of the fly.
Good to know about the fish.

Just like Stansjoy said, they are just jealous. I did not run into anyone like that when I took my 2 boys out to green lake couple of weeks ago. Yes, there were many people on the trail but most who stopped to check our bucket were just wondering how we are doing. They were happy we are catching fish. Some will call their kids to come and see. Fishing is an activity meant to be enjoyed with family. I'm glad you are doing it.

I agree on both comments, dont worry bout what people think, its always fun the get kids involve in this game. I also used to bring my kids since they were 2 and 3 yrs old, and each outing is a fond memories. Now they're in school and I miss them fishing with me. Keep at it, you and your little ones is making memories together.
