The weather has been great for Winter the last few days so my fiance and I decided to get the kayaks out and I wanted to fish lake Cavanaugh for the first time. We hit the water at 10:00 and I trolled the middle of the lake for a couple of hours and had no luck. It didn't help that part of the lake was full of pine needles and I kept getting snagged fishing the top water column with a wooly bugger. The water cleared up and we made it near the end of the lake and just relaxed. I started throwing a krocodile, reeling in and letting it flutter down. Second cast and fish on! Nice little Cutthroat. I trolled back to the boat launch and caught two more Cutthroat right away. One on a rooster tail and the other on the same krocodile. Wasn't a bad day fishing for Winter, we will definitely be back.
