Fished Sunday 2-8 with my lovely wife and caught fish nealy every place we tried. Started blading in 25 feet, caught a 17" right away then it was "smalleye" after "smalleye" with a few perch mixed in. Moved around and lost about 10 fish on in a row. Frustrating at times and maybe its lack of practice after a long season with a shotgun instead of a rod. Ended the day blading in 50 feet of walleye and landed a handful of keeper size eyes in between the constant perch and little eyes.
Fished Wednesday 2-11 and started blading in 30-40 ft. Had a few takers but the fish seem scattered so tried trolling some crawlers and put 8 nice eyes in the boat including a 25" big fish, lots of little ones, and more than a few misses on the hook set.
As the water temp creeps above 40° the bite will only improve. I have scattered openings beginning Monday 2-16. Get here and enjoy our unseasonably nice weather and reel em in!
