Well here we are again...

Went out to the old mud pond this morning with high winds and off n on rain just as last time. Only this time my buddy came out with his 10ft alum boat so we could really get ambitious and hit all spots. It didnt take long fishing the roadside wall before I pitched old trusty double-bladed white n red spinnerbait just past a half sunken log and WHAMM Hog on! This 5.5lber put up quite the fight, even doubled my pole under the boat once or twice. Landed that guy after a few minute fight.

We cruised around by that wall for a bit until the wind decided to blow us down towards the west end by the slough. Keeping true to the spinnerbait (since it has produced back to back 5+lb hogs) we worked that edge for a while. Started getting into some grassy, paddy area so I switched over to the Black n green Jig with the rage craw teaser on there. After a few casts I pitched out past a small reed point and must've bonked this 4.5lber on the head cuz it was two cranks on the reel and WHAMM, and I mean WHAMM!! He absolutely destroyed that jig. He prolly wouldve lost some teeth if they had any. Unfortunately he got wrapped up in that grassy stuff and some pads so I played the whole, "I got him, No maybe not, maybe just a spunky weed pile? No I feel some tugging... No its just grass... oh there he is! Yeah it wasnt the best fight since I was pulling in him plus 5lbs of crap but eventually he shoot it loose and I got to experience just him whipping around at the side of the boat but he was pretty tired. Oh well though, point being another fish in the boat (for quick pic n measure then back in the drink) and a nice one to boot!

We worked around that end of the lake along with the North end for a while longer and picked up the 3lber on the spinnerbait and my buddy finally landed his first big bass with the really nice, fat 4lber!! Bwap bwap!

We had nice nice bass all day, only reason it wasnt a 5 star day was there were quite the time gaps between fish at times that couldve been filled by a couple 1-2lbers like late summer days :) Other than that it was nothing short of amazing and undeniably a day to remember!

Best luck all,

Casey

Great report. I tried finding access to Mud with my kayak but couldn't seem to find a way in except to slide it down that steep embankment. I ended up fishing Clear Lake due to lack of access. Is there an area to launch a kayak that isn't on private property?

Nope, the great slide is all we got.. it's a pain getting the boat out, in is very easy thanks to our pal gravity :) I hear the big nice house off main street will grant access but that's just hear say, I've never asked. I just put the work into the slide and pray I'll be rewarded by the fish gods.

I drove by last week after fishing clear lake. Seems that there's access next to the large house. Not sure if it's their property or town property that boarders the bus stop. Looks like I could slide my kayak in there. It appears a lot of the bramble was taken down along that end.
