Three of us took to Sprague lake to test our skills. We heard of large bows and the bonus of steelhead. The East end healed the steelhead but they were small. 9 to 10 inches. We put in at 4 Seasons resort and had 2, rainbows 3 pound plus when we reached the East end and were catching the small steelhead. So we returned to the West end and completed the day with a total of 8 big rainbows and one German Brown, 14 inches long. That Brown sure surprised me since it has not been that long ago that they poisoned Sprague lake. The beautiful day was spent trolling pink or orange/tan Apex lures. The pink Apex even caught the Brown trout.

Good luck.

That brown may have been a lahontan cutthroat , very colorful at times with big spots, gotten a few from Sprague but never a brown.

You are so right. I have shown my lack of knowledge here. Although it was my first encounter with a lahontan cutthroat, I really should have known better. I'm sure all those who have been here longer then 3 years {like me}, got a kick out of my mistake.
Please come to my rescue any time. I am not afraid to still learn.
