Second day of the Chelan Kokanee Derby found myself and partner Scott sitting in 10th place for overall boat weight and not on the board for big fish. Though we crushed the field for time fished/number of fish, derby rules are that top 10 fish on your boat are what count. Guess our 10 biggest from the prior day weren't so big. So, we start the day once again in the same lower basin location at right about 6am. Knowing the other boats would not be able to scratch out fish until the evening again (derby is over at 12 on Sunday) we knew we had a chance to get caught up if we had a fast repeat of the day before. Well it wasn't as fast as the day before where we limited out right before 10am.....Sunday it took us until 10:30. We flat out crushed them again! If we had not been stuck on 19 fish for and hour and a half we would have really done good! Even better today we had 17 big fish, and our 10 weighed in were super nice! Ended the derby in 2nd place overall with 4th and 6th biggest fish! Also won a new Scotty 1106 in the raffle after the derby! SWEET!! Also, after doing the math I realized that for my 3 day run to Chelan I ended up boating 50 Kokanee in about 9 hours of fishing!! To say the least it was HOT!!!
