This is a two-day report for Friday 5/1 and Saturday 5/2...
Fished with my good buddy Bassplayer17 and we are getting this lake dialed in.....First koke season for my 16' Almar sled & it's a fish killer for sure. Four electric Scotty's helps a little too :) ....
Friday we started early around the monument and caught a few then moved up lake and caught a few more, ended the day with 9 but really had to work for them. I lost what Tony said was the biggest kokanee he'd ever seen, let go about 5' from the net. Estimated 20-22" and we were bummed all weekend about that fish. It was so much heavier than any kokanee I've had hooked up and really wanted that one in the net!
Saturday was a much different day, fished the lower basin establishing our race track and pulled out a bunch of Lake Stevens sized fish but managed some OK sized mixed in with our biggest netted fish of the weekend coming from there at a little over 18" - it seems every time Tony gets a double on his rods I manage to get to reel in the pig! Thanks buddy! Moved up lake and found nicer fish right away, putting 5 more in the box that were all about 15" and ended our day with 19. My wife was our good luck charm this day - we had multiple doubles and a triple down in the lower basin.
Thank you to Mike Carey and all of the sponsors who put on a great event and gave away a lot of nice products! Already planning for next year!
A special thanks to RSeas for picking up a bottle of scent for me and for the outstanding fish tacos! Those were amazing!
