We went on a camping trip to Lake Cushman. I had heard and read about the
lake and it's fine fishing. We spent 6 days there and got skunked. I was
told from the locals that the fish are very skidish. The large ones are
deep towards the middle of the lake and cutthroats are in the shallows. I
did not see any fish in the water. The water is very clear. I tried
Wedding rings, vibramax's, and other assorted combos. No luck. I guess all
the activity of jet skis, and large boats on the lake make the fish very
nervous. On the weekend I fished early until all the recreation boaters
came on the lake. It was a mad house. We did do some hiking and went up to
staircase rapids. I also found the dolly pool on the river where as you
look down from above you see many dollys in this large pool. Wish I had my
rod. Opps its catch and release only. Well I enjoyed the vacation and I
guess I have to go back to work. Fish on.
