Went up to Loon this morning to grab my 12 ft aluminum boat so I can take my nephew out to catch some Crappie at Eloika friday after school. But I made sure to bring a couple rods so I could wet a line while I was there. After I checked for new leaks & made sure my battery was working I headed out to fish around the northwest side staying close to my Uncle's place just in case the battery crapped out & I had to paddle back. Saw a bunch of Bass in the shallows & also quite a few beds too. Didn't see any locked down fish but they were roaming around them. My first fish was a nice 3 3/4- 4 pounder but I hooked her deep & she was bleeding so wanting to get her back in the water asap I cut the line & skipped the picture/weight. Started catching a lot of 2 1/2 pounders & a couple 3- 3 1/2 lbers. Fished 7:00 to 9:45 & landed 16 fish. Caught em on a 6" senko, 8" lizard, & a 5/8 ounce black/blue mop jig with craw trailer. Weather was overcast & windy with a light sprinkling of rain now & then, but I found a nice sheltered area & had a good time. Fish were aggressive & fought hard. It's amazing how close Deer & Loon lake are together & how different the Bass act all year around but especially when they decide to move up to spawn. I haven't even caught a Largie at Deer yet, but I've mostly just fished for SMB over there so far. Excited to get back out, I love springtime:) P. S. I stayed & watched for the bleeding fish to make sure she didn't go belly up on me. She seemed good & I could still see her under the same dock an hour after I released her.

Should mention all Bass were caught in maybe a 30 yard stretch. I didn't get bit anywhere else, but my range was limited as I didn't have much time, or faith in my little minn-kota getting me around the lake & back with a questionable battery
