Took my nephew Corben out to catch his first Bass today. Started at Eloika but was kinda shocked to see how choked with weeds it already is. It looks like 4th of July there instead of mid May. But with this early spring I should've expected as much. So we loaded the boat back in the truck & headed for Loon. We launched at Morgan park & I gave Corben a crash course in weightless soft plastics & within 15 minutes he nailed his first ever Largemouth & boy he was freaking out "get the net" he yelled when he finally set the hook hard enough to stick a fish. He caught a couple more & I lucked out & stuck a couple nice ones in between trying to coach him along & keep the boat in a good casting position for him. Best fish was just under 5 lbs \4lb-14oz\ The Nephew's already trying to plan a trip for this weekend!
