I fished Rattlesnake twice these past few days, for a couple hours in the morning on Sunday and Tuesday all day. I didn't arrive yesterday until about 10:30am, got the pontoon in the water, and promptly started hooking trout on a black woolly bugger with a gold bead head and olive body. I fly fished all day and had success on a variety of mostly black buggers. By 4pm I had caught and released some twenty small to good size trout. The weather was nice with a slight wind. I used my anchor and it had no problem holding me on top of the fish, which seemed to come by in big schools. There was two occasions where I hooked a fish while simply dangling the bugger in the water while I released the previous fish. It's been great fishing this spring at Rattlesnake and I'm a big fan of the catch and release/selective gear status of the lake. Some of those planters are getting up in size and they hit really hard. It was also a great learning day for my burgeoning fly fishing skills with a lot learned and lots of casting practice accomplished.

Fly fishing IS a blast! & a little bit addictive too. I haven't dug out my fly rod for a few years, but when the creeks open in June I'm gonna dust off my ol' Lamiglas & go after some Brook trout. And hopefully C&R-ing a few little Bull trout as a bonus. Good report & pictures too, Rattlesnake looks like a beautiful place, from it's name I always pictured it in the scablands

Amazing detail on the pic with the woolly bugger. Not a cell phone?

All pics with the Iphone Quadfather. Nobody ever shows pics of their well-worn/unraveling flys that just caught 10 fish. It's always a pretty fly on a vise that hasn't even gotten wet yet :)
