The wife and I ventured out to Cda and brave what we thought was going to be a crowded lake. Surprisingly there were no where near as many boats out as we thought there would be. Started the day with a fish in the 25" range then took a while to find the next one. I did manage to release 6 pike, one largie, one nice smallie and a 4" perch that hit a 5" Sebille Koolie minnow. He had big ideas there.
The fish I found were scattered with no more than one in each area until I went in to my all time nemesis chain lake. If you have read my posts over the last few years you may know which one I am talking about. This lake has had my number and I've been unable to boat a single fish there over many years. Yesterday was a diffrent story. I picked up 3 fish there. two 28"ers and a 26 The first came in the first 15 minutes, the second right after that, then the third took me over an hour to find. The fish in this lake were hitting the soft plastic frog in about 6 feet of water and cabbage beds. Best fish of the day was 30" and hit a deep diving crankbait in 10 feet of water on a cabbage covered ledge out in the main lake. I lost a fish there last weekend and had to go back and get him. Water temps in the chains reached 73 and in the main lake I saw up to 64 degrees. The pike are getting pretty active now with the warmer temps. The fish I caught came on soft plastic frogs, spinner baits, rapala x raps, and the sebile koolie minnow.
