I am new to the Fort Lewis area, just PCS'd/arrived here this past weekend.

So while staying on Fort Lewis fishing today, while I am still on leave. fished all afternoon with no luck. Then someone on a FB post to the JBLM Fishing forum I posted, suggested worm and bobber. So I used a brown and white plastic worm, a mid size red/white bobber and a 4/0 hook and landed this beauty of a largemouth 5 ft off the bank. she was about 18 inches and 2 lbs maybe a little more

Well that is one heck of a nice fish to say the least , Not sure I've ever heard of the lake You caught the fish at , but no matter . damn I'd have a grin like that too . If you read some of the reports on this site , a person Who is known as D j has an ability like you for just going to the ole pond and bringing home the fish just as you did , not everyone can do that . way cool dude being new to the area in all it just gets better . Check out D js posting I'm sure you will enjoy them. Dang that is one big fish. Fish On !

Nice LMB! Closer to 3.5 lbs. if you ask me...Always pass by that lake and wanted to try it. Is there an area to hand launch a 10' jon boat?

I used to fish this lake a lot in the late 80s and early 90s when I was stationed at McChord, the north end usually produced the best. Buzz baits and other top waters were my lures of choice. If there is a lot of moss a frog/rat bait should work well even from shore. Also be careful because there is a lot of Poison Oak in the bushes around that north end, I experienced it more than once. I was a slow learner back then I guess. I used to launch my 16' ft Fisher from the gravel area on the NW side, the lake was electric only back then so I used my bow mount to get around. Good luck!

Don't sell yourself short on the weight. I've found online largemouth bass length to weight, and vice versa, to be fairly accurate, within less than a half pound. This is based on trial and error, and they are pretty accurate. I think Kuyamonster is right, 3.5lbs. Google largemouth bass length to weight. That is not a two pounder, but thanks for your modesty. At least you didn't say it was a ten pounder, LOL. In all seriousness, that's a heck of a nice fish, and I'd guess 3.5 as well.
