6/11/2015 6:30:00 PMI would agree that it's the good weather and free fishing weekend, but it goes beyond that. More and more boaters are using American Lake than ever before. I have been fishing the lake for about 7 years now and each year it has gotten worse, but mostly on the weekends. I won't even go out on the lake in my 18' Sea Ray on weekends any more. As a retired Coat Guard the weekends on this Lake scare the crap out of me. Sometimes not only the weekends either. This morning I was out in my rowboat on Little American and some Jackass was pulling a water toy at planing speeds right of the army beach at Shoreline park. For the first time I called MPs and reported it, but before they showed up the life guards ran the person off. Some people are just idiots. Plus that the fishing sucks. There seems to be lots of perch and bass but I have caught only one RBT, A very nice one, 18 in 2 1/2 lb, but that's it. My wife says the fish are all hiding because of all the boat traffic. She may well be right.
