Launch my bote at 5:30am. Just bought downriggers so it was my 2nd time using the rigger and trolling so I'm new to the trolling thing. Started near the public fishing docks and circled the north side of the lake at 15ft and 30ft at about 1mph or less (2 speed setting on the 30# thrust). Wasn't getting any action so I played with the speed between 1 and 3 on my motor without ay luck. After circling the lake twice I headed towards south past the docks around 7am and increased the speed to 4 (around 2mph). Not long after, bam, my very first koke at 30ft on a dick nite clown dodger with a pink and charteuse wedding ring tipped with Pautze fire corn. I pulled the 15ft line and dropped it down to 35ft. Not long after I get a hit and lose it. Reset the line down to 35ft. Around 8am, got another hit around the middle of the lake 35ft down and pulled in a nice koke on a ford fender flasher with a gold and orange wedding ring tipped with fire corn. Circled the area in front of public docks twice without any action and left at 9am.
All in all, it was a good day. I wasn't expecting to catch anything as the previous outing. Talked to two guys on a boat who were out as long as I was and they only pulled in 1 and lost a couple. Talked to anothr guy with his canoe before I left who launched the same time as I did and said he caught 2.
Thanks to the people that post information on depth and gear on this site as it was extremely helpful.
