I launched at 5:15 AM and headed down lake on the south side. I trolled two downriggers - one at 40-60 feet and the other at 25-40 feet. My mission was to track down the kokanees and see what colors and depths they were hitting.
On the DR running at 25-40ft I ran through all of my pink dodger/lure combos with scented corn and only attracted a couple of small rainbows.
On the DR running at 40-60ft I ran my limited selection of green, purple and watermelon dodger/lure combo with corn. Green = zero fish. On Purple I caught one 8" rainbow that I kept (since I was using bait and didn't have any trout eye patches in my tackle box to put on him) and one 8" kokanee - both at about 60ft. On a watermelon sling blade and watermelon squid I hooked 6 kokanee and boated one. I guess I was too energetic this morning and ripped the lips off the 5 that got away (all 5 must have been 20 inches plus - lol).
Two rainbow (one was 15" and the other was 17") came knocking on the DR at 60ft. Both wanted to come to my house for dinner, so how could I refuse? They are now currently cleaned and wrapped in foil to be put on the barbeque.
I was off the water by 11:00 am. It was a cloudy, breezy morning which was fine with me.
