Got to the lake about 0800 this morning, fishing for bass. This is a good lake for larger bass. It has a small launch area that despite the no parking signs usually has at least one car or truck there with people fishing off the bank. No toilet at this lake. We launched and took off to the right like we usually do and fished with a 5 inch black plastic worm near the lily pads. Caught about three or four ten inch bass after about 30 minutes. This end of the lake is shallower and the bass seem to be hiding out about ten to fifteen feet from the edge of the pads in underwater weed beds. The east end of the lake has a long row of cattails and we rarely catch fish there. Just north of this area there is a gazebo near the waters edge with a lifeguard type stand on a dock and the lily pad bed there has always been awesome fishing for bass. I hung a huge bass that I was unable to get into the boat that dove twice very aggressively and broke my line. Fishing with ten pound test , and I doubt this was a ten pound fish but definitely felt large and broke the line easily. Hung two other larger bass that we saw but threw the hook. My dad fished with a fly rod and top water popping bug and a black wooly bugger and had good results with small bass hitting on the top of the water. We fished for about three hours and caught our combined limit of ten bass easily, all around ten to twelve inches. Good fishing day here.
