Well my son and I headed to Baker lake on 7-12 and stayed till 7-14 and had leave by 9am. We arrived at 8 am looked at the campground to see what our site looked like and I was very happy spot to park the trailer and the truck. We paid our day use fee and dropped the boat in just as a spot opened up for our truck perfect timing. We started fishing right away headed towards the dam. We fished many spots working our way down the lake. We had take down and I told my son its yours first fish of the trip and we landed a small 8" koke and back in he went and swam away to fight another day. Skunk off the boat kid a little happy but was hopping for a larger fish. We marked tons of fish had three drive by's but never hooked another fish the rest of the day. Headed back to camp and got settled in. Talk to a few other guys at the boat docks and they said to fish the upper lake so got up at 5am a bit late and started fishing by 5:30 followed the pack got set up we fished hard all morning long and caught a small 10" kokanee, got reset and started trolling again and I look up and my white lamiglas gets slammed and I have a nice fish on. My son says you still have him I say get the net he grabs the little kokanee net and I told him no the big net then it starts jumping all over the place he was excited. After what seem to be a long battle we get it right to the boat and my son does a great job putting in the net a nice 26" sockeye hog. I was excited our first Baker lake Sockeye in the box. Now this fish was caught on something I had Toni from Wanna fish a lure make up for me, there will be a picture of the set up I got it on. I got tired of using coon shrimp and tried this set up and well it worked for me on this day. This was also the set up the kokanee came on as well.

We had a little rain then it got really windy and was one of the last boats on the water and decided to call it as no fish were bitting. We figured on trying the evening bite but then people starting arriving at camp with boats looking for dock space and if you left no way were you going to have a place to dock your boat overnight so we never went out.

Got up Tuesday at 3 am and was on the water by 3:45 and headed back up the lake only a dozen boats out. By 5 am there must of been over 100 boats on the lake it was a zoo..... there were guys who did not care where the were heading if you did not move you were going to get hit! This happen to us many times we did watch a good bite turn on and had one good take down and I was turning the boat and had to let go of the motor to grab the pole then the boat turned and I had to grab it to avoid another boat and lost the fish. We did get another kokanee today and he came home with us as it was our last day and well one hook took out his eye. We fished till 8:15 am and called it a day.

All in all a nice trip one super nice Sockeye and some great memory's only wish my son would of got one on his line. He wants to make another trip again so we let the lake settle down some and in a few weeks make one more trip and try our luck again. Anyone thinking of doing this there are ton's of people and its a bunch of fun, from canoes to Bayliner Trophy pro does not matter bring what you have and fish!!
