This was the 5 star day I was waiting for. Although I was one short of a limit, I had plenty of other oppritunities to bring that last fish in but it wasn't meant to be.

Started my troll on my pontoon at 4:45am but didn't get my line wet until 5:15. Takes a while with just an electric motor. Once I got to my spot which I scouted and took notes last week, I had my line down to 45 ft. Marked schools right away and 15 min in my rod starts dancing. First fish bonked, bled, and in the cooler. Nice bright 4lb hen! 5 min later I have a takedown but it was just a bait stealer. Did figure eights in the area I marked the schools and finally got number two 30 min later. Another nice bright hen about the same weight just a bit smaller in length. An hour rolls by with two small hit and one more big takedown with nothing to show for. 7:30 rolls around and im hooked into fish number three which was the best fight I've had on my pontoon. This guy wasn't huge but he had some fight in him as he dragged me around for a little while. That was pretty entertaining. I was using my kokanee rod so I had to play the fish before netting him. This guy was around 6lbs or just shy on the scale. I fished until 10 am and had two more takedowns just couldn't get them to stick.

Here are the details,

I stayed in 60-50 ft of water the entire morning. Caught 1 fish at 55, and the other two at 45. Most of the missed takedowns were at 45 ft. The gear used was a 00 Prism uv dodger 6 inch, followed by a 14inch leader wiggle Hoochie tipped with pink cured coon stripe shrimp. Anise Krill for the scent. Trolled at 1.0 mph doing small zig zags. Buying a bigger net with a longer handle made the biggest difference landing these fish for me. Another note, you will notice marks right on the bottom and those are sockeye. If you see a bunch of yellow arches, drop your gear. *Be careful of snags* Hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy this fishery while it still last. The scenery is just breath taking and continues to put me in awe. Tight lines to Ya!!!

Nice work DJ. We were marking most of the fish around 45-60 ft in 65 to 120ft of water. Must be the right temperature at that depth...
Too much fun catching Sockeye at Baker Lake.... Simply an incredable experience with the quality of the fish and the scenary. Can't beat it!

Nice looking batch of Sockeye , always a good feeling bringing home a mess of fish after that long drive to and from the lake. I was thinking of
hitting the ole fish hole in Kent Tuesday and trying the double stack matching gear trick to try and figure if it really works faster or turns into kaos on the lake instead tangled lines and all , may be it will or then ya never know ?????. See from the reports joeortega did well on sat, and Your fatties from the middle of last week just can't help thinking the fishing is finely picking up there.
