Fished 8/3, 8/4 & 1/2 day on 8/5, caught 8 on 8/3 by 9:40 am, 7 on 8/4 before the wind came, and on 8/5 3 before the rain and wind. The first day the color was orange, after that it was pink. 0 flasher, 12" leader, down 50- 60', always at 1.1-1.2 mph. Sockeye, & Kokanee are not only the best eating of all salmon they are the hardest to catch. We try to catch the fish with something they don't normally eat. Two items that I believe will always stop the bite are wind with heavy seas. If you go into the wind it is impossible to hold speed. The best thing to do is always go with the wind, and hope you don't go to fast. The other is a sudden changing weather front. I can't ever get a good bite when this happens. Also remember as Bill Herzog would say, fish don't have eye lids so they will change depth based on light conditions, and waves. Also use a rod to experiment with, as Buzz Ramsey says " let the fish tell you what they want". I found a new product, it is called " Looney Coonies", they are from Oregon, and can be ordered with tails only, shipped in an ice pack, 10.00 to ship so buy several at a time. They are much firmer so you use less, and they don't turn your fingers pink. Check them out on the web.

Nice job indeed! And a very nice boat and setup too! What brand and model boat is that? Do you like the center console?

The boat is a 19' Twin Vee catamaran made in Florida. A couple of them come up for sale each year in Washington State. Cats are simply the smoothest riding and most stable boat available. I take that boat 25 miles west of Westport, and 30 miles out on the west side of Vancouver Island. When the wind is blowing in eastern Washington I can still troll for walleye at 1.0 miles per hour. When I fish Ling Cod I use the electric motor to move along the shoreline casting for greenling that I then use to back troll for Ling Cod. When at Rufus Woods Lake I can move along the shoreline casting jigs, and Rooster Tail lures for Triploids. This is a hard core fishing boat, and I love it. Having said all that if you want to stay warm, and dry this is not the boat. Rain gear is needed, and I would not recommend it for a lot of winter fishing, but again I am 70 years old.

That is an interesting, non common boat for our area, as you eloquently describe in comment #3. As it were, every time I see a picture of your catch along side or in your boat, I think Florida! Of course, it helps cement the Florida theme when the pictures are taken on a Sunny day. The vented shirt and shorts are an added touch to that theme.
