I found myself with an hour or two and decided to check out Fenwick for bass this time around. I parked around 1:45pm and started walking. I had visited this lake a month or so ago and was more focused on trout as that's what I had packed. The lake had a lot of pads, then... They have since died off and had a thick bed of milfoil.
I parked by the boat access and walked north along the path throwing a frog or Carolina senko 4" watermelon with 2/0 hook.
I had some perch or small bass nip at the worm along the walk 'around' the lake(the high bank isn't easy to get down to the water!) regardless I found myself on the high bank and made my way down. I saw some down trees and a massive submerged tree. I figured what the heck... The frog I've been throwing in the crispy pads isn't doing anything, it's finesse time!
After a couple casts followed by seemingly endless patient twitching a small bass held onto the worm tail. I nought to myself, "it's gonna be a skunk day" but I cast into the same spot, let her sink, and felt another hit! I made a medium intensity jerk and felt a heavy lurch. I could've sworn I snagged the tree as it was dense cover..
Suddenly this guy rolled over and then did two somersaults!
