Report #8:
After the success on the Duwamish in the morning, my family visited our friend’s cabin on Lake Cavanaugh. We had been there a couple years ago, and I remembered that cutthroat fishing from a canoe wasn’t bad. My brother and I got out onto the water around 3PM and fished for an hour using worms 2 ft. under 1/3 oz. weights. Fishing out in the middle of the lake, we allowed our weights to sink to the bottom, before we reeled up three or four times, so that our bait was suspended just above the bottom. It didn’t take long for us to start hooking up (although, we spent a fair amount of time repositioning the canoe, as the wind or current kept pulling us south). Brother caught 3, while I caught 2. The fish ranged between 9 and 13 inches long, though a couple seemed kind of thin. All their stomachs were full of insect larvae. Overall, it was a great experience.
