With the weather cooling down I thought maybe there would be some trout action at Medical. A coworker and I went there after work, both of us our first time there, and his first time EVER fishing without bait so there were some growing pains learning to cast out lures/flies. Immediately after we got there a group of four people showed up and were all using worms. We knew better, and within minutes another guy showed up and informed them they were illegal and they left. This guy (not sure, maybe he is a member here?) knew the lake really well and said the trout quit biting a couple weeks ago, but that there were some bass in there also. I had no idea, so started casting parallel to the shore near a downed tree and wham caught a decent little largemouth. I was using a fly and bobber rig with a floating mouse fly for that one.

Unfortunately we didn't land any other fish. I missed another top water hit, had another bump my fly and turn (looked like a rainbow). The lake is only open through October so I'll likely give it one more shot toward the end of the month.

Yes I'm a member here. Just glad that you guys read the pamphlet and know the rules of the lake. I did hit a few today using a heavy spoon about 2 to 4 feet of the bottom . Silver was a good color

Yep, I started fishing the river this year and with all of its special rules I was prepared. Thanks for your diligence in educating those who aren't though!
