I went up to my old backyard Friday evening and fished off the shore for trout near Tum Tum. The action was hot an hour before dark. I missed three and caught three in an hour! A guy could limit out really easy right now. The trout are running 13 - 18 inches. They are holdovers from last year. There were a dozen guys shore fishing but not a boat on the water. Everyone had fish on their stringers. The action will be hot for another month while the water is low and cold. Float a crawler, powerbait or toss a spinner. I caught mine on all three techniques. I enjoy a 2 rod stamp so I put bait on the bottom and cast a spinner to stay busy. I moved up to Rose Lake Idaho and I will miss Long Lake. Over the years I've caught a lot of nice fish at Long. I will miss the great fishing but I wont miss all the trash people are leaving on the shore. Broken glass, used toilet paper and turd piles, its really pathetic how people abuse this resource. Enjoy but watch your step!!!!!

Go get em Smitty! The Hotspot marker is accurate but that whole mile stretch along 291 past Tum Tum is good. My buddy got five saturday morning in an hour on crawlers and a marshmellow.

Is "Turd pile" a politically correct term? Let's be a little more sensitive here. My guess is, what you saw was the droppings of one of your fellow humans, or possibly a wild animal.
In the future, let's try to use terms like "Fecal dispersements" or maybe "Consumed nutritional discharge".
Some of you fellow website members may be offended by your "Turd Pile" terminology. LOL!!
Good to see you posting again. I'll have to get up there and fish the chains with you as soon as things warm up a little.

Forgive my insensitivity AJ's Dad but I do believe "Turd Pile" is pretty accurate for this post because it clearly defines the dung mounds and more importantly the fellow human that left the nutritional discharge is notably a "Turd Pile" or "Human Debris". Mr. Webster sums it up nicely; "Turd Pile"
a lump of excrement.
synonyms: stool, dung, scat, dropping; More
excrement, feces, fecal matter;
informalpoop, poo, doo-doo
"a person regarded as obnoxious or contemptible"

In this instance I am certain the fecal matter was of human origin as wild beast don't use toilet paper to my knowledge.
