We took a trip to silver lake for the first time. With high hopes of finding some crappie! We were equipped with the shy bite bobbers, Drennan 3.2gr Loafer floats, and trout magnets on our ultra light rods. When we arrived there were kids catching crappie from the bank in about 2ft of water. We launched and made our way up the left side of the channel and started fishing close to the bank, in maybe 3ft of water with our bobbers set at about 2 and half feet. We started picking up fish right away and 3rd fish of the day was a legal 10 and half incher. Action was consistent in this area. The only place we couldnt get a bite was next to lily pads. Which we assume was because the bass seemed to be heavily feeding and cruising the lilies. We would find hot spots of fish with consistent action until we would hook a bass and the fish would scatter. We caught white crappie, black crappie, perch, trout, bass, and blue gills. This would be a great lake to take kids. Unfortunately that 10 and a half incher was the only legal crappie caught of the day. Majority of the crappie hovered around 7-8 and half inches. We tried a few other locations on the lake but still couldnt find anything with decent size. Something about crappie is so addicting, so we will be back in search of those big ones.
