Had to post this even though it's a friend who caught it and sent me the agonizing picture and ensuing phone call to brag. Hooked it right at dusk off the dock with a sexy frog. didn't have a scale but did throw a tape measure on it. Measured out at 23 5/8" long and over 8" belly (chart reads roughly 8lbs). Had to post about it since Sunday Lake is known for its abundance of mini bass but rare Mommas like this one. Nice Work KELLY!

Thanks for posting that Jerome! I have fished that little lake a few times in years past but never caught anything like that.

Its been awhile since I have fished there but it has always been my favorite lake for brown bullhead catfish. Last hour or 2 of daylight just throw a worm 4 feet or so under a float and toss it straight out from the dock. Soon as you start to see fry bubbling on the surface you know the catfish bite is about to start.

I was pondering going out there again this year. It used to be a great lake for bass in 13-16" range in late 80's to early 90's then home owners association sprayed the lake to kill the millfoil and hasn't been the same. Last few times I have been there caught a 10.5" bass was the big monster and some perch on a bass color rapala. I used to catch a lot on buzz baits by millfoil and on mini hula poppers...last big one I got was around 2001 on frog cast from the lily pads to the shore in early May 19" by 7" wide 4lbs even. He didn't jump just went straight down and I had to row over with one hand to get to the lure...biggest head I had ever seen. Nice fish by your friend if that long has to be over 6lbs easy. Frogs might be the key there and frogs have been active past month or two.
